SportsPro - Nets team up with Healthfirst NJ
Ahead of next season's move to a new arena in Brooklyn, Nets Basketball has signed a deal with Healthfirst NJ, a not-for-profit organization that provides government-sponsored health insurance programmes to eligible New Jersey residents.
As part of the deal, the New Jersey Nets and Healthfirst NJ will host two youth basketball clinics for eight to 14-year-olds as part of the NBA's 2012 NBA Fit Live Health Week, which runs from 25th January to 2nd February.
“As a professional sports team, we appreciate the opportunity to promote health and physical activity for young people through our two basketball clinics,” said Petra Pope, senior vice president of community relations for Nets Basketball. “We are excited to align with Healthfirst NJ to help make a difference in kids’ lives.”
The Nets have also announced that they will be awarding a US35,000 scholarship to three students from New Jersey in recognition of the team's 35-year history in New Jersey.
