Pharmacy Choice - Six Leading New York and New Jersey Medicare Advantage Plans Now Offering Monthly OTC Benefits Via Medagate OTC Network Card
Medagate Corporation, the company that powers OTCNetwork?, the only national over-the-counter (OTC) healthcare benefit payments platform, and a wholly owned subsidiary of InComm Holdings, Inc., announced that, beginning this month, over 100,000 Medicare Advantage plan members in New York and New Jersey will receive their monthly OTC benefit via the OTCNetwork Card. The OTCNetwork Card gives plan members convenient access to valuable OTC self-care benefits at leading retailers. For Medicare Advantage plans, the OTCNetwork Card is an innovative tool to increase member satisfaction, decrease doctor and emergency room visits arising from minor ailments and improve overall member health. Medicare Advantage plans offering the OTCNetwork Card to their members in New York and New Jersey include HealthPlus, Healthfirst,VNSNY CHOICE and Access Medicare. On February 23rd Medagate will be hosting a free webinar on Medicare OTC strategies for health plans. Many Medicare Advantage plan members do not take advantage of OTC Medicare benefits because they must either pay out-of-pocket for OTC items and seek reimbursement, or order online via a catalog and wait up to a week to receive OTC items. Lack of immediate access to OTC benefits can lead to negative consequences such as unnecessary doctor and hospital visits or untreated conditions that later require urgent care. The OTCNetwork Card functions like a conventional pre-paid card, but restricts usage to the purchase of OTC Medicare eligible items for use in self care.
