Healthfirst Sponsors the 2013 Long Island Youth Singing Contest

Open to Nassau and Sufffolk County Residents

HEMPSTEAD, NY,September 26, 2013 – Healthfirst announced today that they are sponsoring the annual 2013 Long Island Youth Singing Contest. Children ages 9-18 who reside in Nassau and Suffolk Counties are eligible to showcase their singing talent and compete for the grand prize of $600.  This is the first year the contest is extended into Suffolk County.

Registered contestants will be split into two age groups – youth, ages 9-13 and high school, ages 14-18. Those who are selected from the preliminary round will move on to subsequent rounds, culminating with the grand finale on Saturday, December 7, 2013. Each age group will be awarded prizes of $600 for 1st Place, $400 for 2nd Place, and $300 for 3rd Place.  

“We are excited to extend this contest to both Nassau and Suffolk County residents for all children in the Long Island area to not only express their creative talent but also be recognized by the community,” said George Hulse, Vice President of External Affairs. “This is our fourth year hosting the contest and we look forward to welcoming the hundreds of gifted children that turn out for this event year after year.”

Registration for the contest closes on October 28, 2013 followed by preliminary rounds. Registered participants may sing in English and Spanish for five minutes or less.
