Healthfirst Approved as Qualified Health Plan in New York State of Health: The Official Health Plan Marketplace
NEW YORK, NY – September 4, 2013 – Healthfirst, a not-for-profit managed care organization offering health insurance to individuals and families living in the New York metropolitan area, has been approved to offer Qualified Health Plans for New York State of Health: The Official Health Plan Marketplace.
Individuals and small business owners will be eligible to sign up for health insurance coverage when the Marketplace opens for enrollment on October 1. Qualified Health Plans available in New York State of Health will include metal tiers (platinum, gold, silver and bronze) that cover preventive and basic health needs including doctor’s visits; hospital stays; emergency care; and maternity and newborn care, in addition to a number of additional services.
In preparation for the upcoming enrollment period, Healthfirst launched its Health Care Reform consumer education website, ExchangeFacts.org, in July. This site is a key resource for consumers, Healthfirst members and New York metropolitan area residents, to learn more about how Health Care Reform and the Affordable Care Act will impact their health care choices.
