NEW YORK, NY, February 8, 2012 – On Friday, February 10th, Healthfirst and TD Bank kickoff the 2012 annual breakfast series honoring NYC Department of Education Parent Coordinators.

Parent Coordinators work with school principals to engage families and assist them with information pertaining to their children’s school community. This breakfast event will recognize 150-200 local Parent Coordinators from Queens districts, including members of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Parents Association (PA), and Community Education Council Boards.

Senator L. Shirley Huntley (D, 10th Senate District) is hosting the opening breakfast at York College in Queens (Faculty Dining Room, 94 - 20 Guy R. Brewer Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11451) from 8:30am-11:30am. Honorees will receive Certificates of Appreciation presented by Senator Huntley.

“We recognize the tremendous contribution NYC Department of Education Parent Coordinators provide to school administrators, families, students and community organizations,” said Pat Wang, Healthfirst President and CEO.  “Healthfirst is pleased to partner with TD Bank to make this special ceremony possible.”

Additional breakfasts are scheduled throughout the spring in the boroughs of Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan, hosted by elected officials – Senator Kevin Parker, Senator Ruth Hassell- Thompson and Senator Bill Perkins - in the respective school districts.
