“The Year of the Dragon” Firecrackers and Performances at Flushing Library

QUEENS, NY,January 23, 2012 – Healthfirst is sponsoring the Flushing Development Center (FDC) 2012 Lunar New Year Celebration at Flushing Library in honor of the “Year of the Dragon.”  Festivities kick off today at 8:30am with firecrackers, lion dancing, Peking Opera and traditional music. Invited elected officials include New York City Comptroller John Liu, New York City Councilman Peter Koo, New York State Assemblywoman Grace Meng, New York State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky and Queens Borough President Helen M. Marshall.

“Lunar New Year marks a very festive and important holiday for the Asian community,” said Pat Wang, Healthfirst President and CEO.  Healthfirst is honored to participate in this joyous occasion and supports our community partners in providing multicultural programming for residents to enjoy.”

The day’s festivities include:

  • 8:30am Firework (Library Front)
  • 8:45am Lion Dance (Library Front)
  • 9:00am Organizer/ VIP/ Sponsor Speech (Library Auditorium)
  • 9:20am Senior Greetings (Library Auditorium)
  • 9:30am – 10:30 am Cultural Performance, Light Refreshment (Library Auditorium)
