Healthfirst and CAMS CAIPA Community Service Fund Announce the 2013 Jade Star Karaoke Contest
NEW YORK, NY, September 4, 2013 – Healthfirst and CAMS CAIPA Community Service Fund proudly announce the kick-off of the 2013 Jade Star Karaoke Contest.
This year marks the 7th anniversary of this popular event, which has become an annual celebration among the Asian community. Since 2007, seniors in the community are invited to showcase their singing talents – and both contestants and guests gather to enjoy an evening that is full of excitement and great entertainment.
The 2013 Karaoke contest features two singing categories: Pop and Classic. Prizes for the semi-finalists and finalists include gift certificates, award certificates, and tickets to the Grand Finale. The three top winners will receive a grand prize of $600, $400, $300 each. Contestants must be age 55 or older and a resident of New York to be eligible to participate.
“We look forward to co-sponsoring this event year after year with CAMS CAIPA Community Service Fund due to the tremendous talent displayed and the vibrance of the seniors that participate,” said George Hulse, Healthfirst Vice President of External Affairs. “We are pleased to provide residents of the Chinatown community with this special outlet for creative expression.”
Registration forms are available at over 100 locations including community associations, senior centers, pharmacies, hospitals, doctors’ offices and Healthfirst sales sites. Contest registration launched August 27 with the Grand Finale scheduled for Friday, October 11 at Jing Fong Restaurant in the Chinatown section of Lower Manhattan. Over 1,000 guests are expected to attend the Grand Finale.
