Healthfirst and CAMS CAIPA Community Service Fund Announce the 2012 Jade Star Karaoke Contest

NEW YORK, NY, September 13, 2012 – Healthfirst and CAMS CAIPA Community Service Fund proudly announce the kick-off of the 2012 Jade Star Karaoke Contest.
This year marks the 6th anniversary of this popular event, which has become an annual celebration among the Asian community. Each year since 2007, seniors in the community are invited to showcase their singing talents – and both contestants and guests gather to enjoy an evening that is full of excitement and great entertainment.
The 2012 Karaoke contest will feature two singing categories in which to compete: Pop and Classic. Prizes for the semi-finalists and finalists include gift certificates, award certificates, and tickets to the Grand Finale. The three top winners will receive a grand prize of $600, $400, $300 each. Contestants must be age 55 or older and a resident of New York to be eligible to participate.
“This joint sponsorship with CAMS CAIPA Community Service Fund enables Healthfirst to offer resources that increase health awareness and promote healthy lifestyles among the Chinese community,” said Pat Wang, Healthfirst President and CEO. “This forum not only showcases the creative talent of our seniors, but also the long term benefits of activities that encourage healthy living.”
Registration forms are available at over 100 locations including community associations, senior centers, pharmacies, hospitals, doctors’ offices and Healthfirst sales sites. Contest registration officially begins on Friday, September 14 with the Grand Finale scheduled forFriday, October 12 at Jing Fong Restaurant in the Chinatown section of Lower Manhattan. Over 1,000 guests are expected to attend the Grand Finale.
