Congressman Charles Rangel To Be Keynote Speaker At Town Hall Meeting Discussing Health Care Reform

Expert Panel Presents Information and Answers Questions about Obamacare

NEW YORK, NY, October 1, 2013 –Congressman Charles Rangel will be the keynote speaker at a Town Hall meeting discussing health care reform and the New York State of Health: The Official Health Plan Marketplace on Saturday, October 5 at the Alhambra Ballroom, 2116 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. at West 126th Street, New York, NY 10027.

Doors open to the public at 8:30am for a free breakfast and expert panel session featuring Congressman Rangel and other special guest speakers. Sponsored by Healthfirst and the Children’s Defense Fund,the panel will provide information on the Affordable Care Act and how it impacts individuals, families and small businesses in New York. Healthfirst is a qualified health plan in the Marketplace.

“This is the first in a series of educational panels Healthfirst will host around New York City to inform the public about health care reform and their options for health insurance coverage,” said George Hulse, Healthfirst Vice President of External Affairs. “The October 1st launch of the New York State of Health is a historic date for the health care industry. As a qualified health plan in the Marketplace, we look forward to making sure all New Yorkers are well aware that they no longer have to go without health insurance.”

The panel will be followed by a free health expo held from 12 noon–5:00pm in the Plaza of the Adam Clayton Powell - State Office Building in Harlem (163 West 125th Street at 7th Avenue, New York, NY). Attendees will be able to enroll on-site for the Healthfirst Leaf Plans and receive free health screenings for blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, glucose, HIV, Hepatitis C, and prostate cancer. A special Kids Zone at the expo will include clowns, face painters and a host of other activities for kids to enjoy.
